PSYCHIATRY SYMPOSIUM IN 2nd KMCCON APRIL 2026

PPS organized symposium in collaboration with Khyber Teaching Hospital Peshawar          Majority of the Speakers talked about Child mental health, although other topics were also discussed.
Collaboration between different Departments including Psychology deptt University of Peshawar, Child Neurology, Psychiatry Units of different Teaching hospitals & Psychiatry Interest Group of Khyber Medical College Peshawar.

Dr. Rabia Fayyaz, PhD Psychology Peace & Conflict Studies, spoke on the impact of wars on children.

Her key points were:
1. Children are hit harder by war due to developing brains and limited coping skills, leading to long-term harm.
2. Conflict causes neurobiological changes, developmental delays, emotional issues, and behavioral problems.
3. Untreated trauma can pass across generations and fuel future violence.
4. War disrupts safety, education, and healthcare. Early psychosocial support is vital for recovery and long-term peacebuilding
