Personal Experience & Biography
Dr. Imran Khan is Chairman and Head department of Psychiatry and Behavioral sciences Khyber Medical College and Khyber Teaching hospital Peshawar. He graduated from Khyber medical college Peshawar in 1996. His qualifications include FCPS in Psychiatry, MCPS in Family medicine, Diploma and MCPS in Anesthesiology and intensive care, postgraduate certificate in CBT (Cognitive Behavior Therapy), Certified in Child and Adolescent mental health (CAMH), Certified in Forensic Psychiatry, two years Master degree in medical education (MHPE), Certified in Medical Editing and has Master in Philosophy with gold medal.
Dr Imran is a Psychiatrist, Psychotherapist, Medical Educationist, critical thinker and has special interest in Child Psychiatry. He is Associate professor at Khyber medical college Peshawar where he teaches Psychiatry and Behavioral sciences to undergraduate medical students. He is a Supervisor and Examiner of College of Physicians and Surgeons (CPSP) Pakistan, for postgraduate trainees in Psychiatry. He is Course Director of three Certificate courses including CBT certificate course affiliated with Khyber medical university, Certificate course in Forensic Psychiatry affiliated with Scottland school of Forensic and Certificate course in Child and adolescent mental health (CAMH). These courses are training young Psychiatrists and Psychologists in these special skills contributing to better mental health services. As Chairman of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, he leads a team of dedicated professionals in providing comprehensive mental health care to the community.
Dr Imran Khan is an active member of Pakistan Psychiatric Society, remained on different positions in cabinet, currently he is Executive member and has contributed significantly in all positions.
Dr Imran Khan is pioneer of Child Psychiatry in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan. He established the first ever Child Psychiatry unit in the region at Khyber Teaching Hospital Peshawar. He started the first ever Certificate Course in Child Psychiatry affiliated with a medical university. His future vision is to start fellowship (FCPS) training in Child and adolescent Psychiatry in his unit.
